The past couple of days have contained moments of
excitement. First, an email from
Rhonda, Indigo Journeys travel agent and high school friend, that the travel
documents were being Fed Exed.
Then an email with my Australia Travel Visa, thanks again to Rhonda. Then the packet of travel documents
arrived in a very nice, zippered, cloth wallet! I made digital copies of the documents and sent them off to
Trevor so he could keep copies on his computer—just in case!
The same day, I made a trip to the local AAA after class to obtain an International Driver’s License. Although and International Driver’s License is not required for Australia, I decided it would be a good idea to have one.
Next in the mail came an iPad cover with a full QUEWRTY keyboard. This is the first time that I will not be taking a full-on laptop on a trip. While I am sure Trevor will have his, I want to learn to take advantage of the iPad’s apps for word processing and photo storing and editing. I am really pleased with the keyboard except that I keep hitting the page-up arrow when I want to shift on the right side. Practice, practice, practice.
After a full day of grading papers, it was a nice reward to
receive my long underwear and half-chaps.
The half chaps are pretty cool and are also incentive to maybe get back
to horseback riding when I come home.
Note to Self: Do not even think of ironing those clothes on the ironing board where the white cat has been lounging without giving the ironing board a good clothes brushing!
Things are making their way into the suitcase. The beginning of my trip is 8 days
away!
